Going going going, modes of transportation (Lagos) – Veronika

A few weeks ago Jo and I decided to travel to Lagos with a group trip and see what Portugal is all about. Friday morning we were driven to the train station by Jo’s host father in plenty of time to catch the train. As we sat down, the timetable flashed that the train to Seville would be 1.5 hours late.

When we arrived in Seville my inner GPS took over and we found a Starbucks for lactose free coffee, and our favorite fast food, Cervecería 100 Montaditos.

After lunch we took a hot, long walk to the Portuguese Consulate to wait for our bus. Our bus ride to Lagos was three hours long, with a few naps. When we arrived, we headed down to the beach for tinto de verano and introduced ourselves to the group.

On Saturday and Sunday we enjoyed the refreshing water of the Atlantic ocean and the hotel pool. Jo and I enjoyed some classic American burgers both nights, and danced the night away before catching a taxi back to our hotel.

Saturday evening we watched the sunset from the ‘end of the world’ at Cabo de San Vincent, though the wind almost pushed us off the edge.

Sunday morning we went on a kayak trip through the cliffs off the coast of Lagos. We saw rock formations such as an elephant, a french kiss, and lover’s cave.

Jo and I had a great time in Lagos, and hope to return one day.
