Adding some PIZZAzz to Villanueva – Jill

Adding some PIZZAzz to Villanueva (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pizzazz)
I want to talk about pizza today. For the last few weeks, the Academia Manhattan team has been going out to Volao on Thursdays. We are fans of the 2-for-1 pizza deal, and it’s a wonderful atmosphere.
Regarding the divine circles of bread-sauce-and-toppings from Volao, I have to put this pizza in its own special category. Pizza is good, no matter where you get it, but the Volao pizza has been super delicious. Where I am from in the United States, our pizzas tend to have a thicker crust and less toppings. The reason to have pizza is often to feed an army of friends or relatives, so we’ll order a lot of pizzas instead of focusing on specific flavor combinations. It’s quantity over quality. (For example, if a someone is moving to a new house and their friends help them move furniture, it is common to buy pizza for the workers as a thank-you.) We do have some really good flavor combinations, like Hawaiian (ham and pineapple) and Veggie Lovers’ (broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, onion, etc.), but we don’t usually have added spices or sauces on our pizza.

At Volao, on the other hand, you can be sure that you’ll get a montón of stuff in your pizza! My personal favorite is the barbacoa pizza. Then it’s the kebab. Also, because the slices of pizza here are smaller, I can try various types of pizza while not over-eating. (Well, it’s possible try everything and overeat, but I’d be lying if I said I have room in my stomach after a Volao night.)
The moral of the story, kids? COME JOIN US AT VOLAO! We will be eating there every Thursday and feel free to dine with us. We will be speaking a mix of Spanish and English so don’t be afraid. Come practice English with us, and enjoy our company! We’re super friendly. And we like to order a lot of pizza.
